Our long term plan was to establish a trail from the Bennett Bridge to Peachland which was visioned by the Regional District to be called Trail 2000. Sections of this trail had been completed in 2002 and 2003 from Gellatly Bay along Boucherie and Pritchard Roads. In 2010 we started planning the route from Peachland along Drought Rd and below Hwy 97 through an old orchard to Seclusion Bay Rd. The trail would follow the right of way for Hwy 97 and avoid any private property easements. Currently, engineering is being completed on this 2.2 km route to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure satisfaction for permits to construct this 3 meter wide multi use trail. The route is part of the Trail of the Okanagan from Osoyoos to Sicamous which will connect with the Fur Brigade Trail from Summerland and the Kelowna to Vernon Rail Trail.
